A Little Bit About Me:

I am a career firefighter, in Washington State and like virtually everyone else who has gotten hired over the years, needed help to get noticed and stand out from the pack. I was a volunteer firefighter for 3 years before getting hired. I spent five years testing and interviewing trying to get hired and get the elusive job that everyone wants. At first I wasn't willing to look at myself and be critical. I believed that because I had worked hard I should get hired, and was frustrated to see others whom I perceived as not as deserving, getting hired. It was then that I took a look at how I was approaching the testing & hiring process. I bought every book, DVD, and "program" I could get my hands on to prepare for the written tests and oral board interviews. I took every test I could take in Washington and some in Idaho and Oregon. I began to see patterns in the questions being asked, and the types of candidates being hired. I came up with a "strategy" for getting hired, this is what I often refer to as my "Root Questions and Answers". In the past before creating Leatherhead Coaching, I had worked with a number of friends and people I met who like me were looking to get hired and get above the competition in the hiring process. I created Leatherhead Coaching so that I could help those individuals really looking to get hired, not because you work 8 days a month, or have decent benefits, but for those who just love being a fireman, and helping people. The costs associated with the programs offered are more so that I can weed out those looking for a cheap advantage or trick to get hired, and encourage those who are using my program to put there all into it, and a small charge usually gives us all the motivation we need. Leatherhead Coaching is not like some online and in person services you have seen, I don't use my name or status in my dept. as a selling point to purchase any of my programs, I let the programs and my candidates feedback and references sell themselves. The candidates who use Leatherhead Coaching, drive how we do business. I believe in adapting in the fire service is important and the testing process is no different. Our site is a fluid idea that is always improving and changing thanks to feedback from those who use our service or browse our site.
